Who is the CFP Board of Standards?

What is CES & SkillSoft's relationship with CFP?
CES is a SkillSoft course provider. SkillSoft is a continuing education sponsor offering financial planner training and educational programs to certificants of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.

CFP certificants must report 30 hours of CE each reporting period. This period is the same at the certification renewal period, a two-year period ending with the last day of the certificant’s renewal month. Newly certified CFP® certificants initial CE requirement is prorated for the period from initial certification to the end of their renewal period. Credit must be earned from a CFP® course that covers financial planning topics.

How is the number of credits determined for a program?
One continuing education hour (credit) equals one hour of CFP course time. Credit for self-study financial planner training programs is determined by taking one half of the course completion time.

How do I obtain my Certificate of Completion for Recertification?

1. Individuals seeking CE hours must be a CES client taking our SkillSoft courses.
2. A printed learner progress report of successful course completion must be sent to SkillSoft.
3. This printout should include your name, the test course, CFP course duration, and the title of the course. A score greater than or equal to 70% is required to receive CE credit.

SkillSoft will provide individuals with a certificate of completion of the CFP course or courses within four weeks of receipt of required documents. Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc, owns the certification mark CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame logo), which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements.
